Here are some of the best roulette moments as captured on the silver screen…

Out of all the movies where the game of Roulette stars as the prominent figure or the hero’s choice for entertainment – It’s in the James Bond movies where Roulette really makes a name for itself. The game did not appear in every Bond movie but it did appear prominently in Moonraker and Casino Royale. We also see a glimpse of the game in Dr. No and Diamonds are Forever.

During the time that some of the above James Bond movies were being made, in 1950, the famous Bugs Bunny cartoon depicted Bugs and Yosemite Sam playing Russian Roulette. Unfortunately, Bugs losses and throws quite a tantrum – poor Yosemite.

Another famous moving that made its début in 1978 was The Deer Hunter about three soldiers capture by the Vietnamese, who made the soldiers play Russian Roulette, whilst they bet on the outcome. Tragically, this Roulette version was violent and only one soldier remained at the end of the rounds.

Another classic – Casablanca, made in 1942 was based on an American café that had a fixed roulette wheel. The roulette croupier has rigged the wheel so that it hits 22. A man with his last coin then bets on 22 and wins quite a bit of money. It’s not very often that an entire movie is almost solely based on the game of roulette.
